Q1 - Hey! Thanks for taking the time to be here. Can you start by sharing a little bit about yourself and your business?
I am a Colorado Native, am 51, and have two amazing children, one grown and on her own and the other is currently a junior in high school, I'm a grandmother to a beautiful unicorn of a granddaughter. I am happily married (22 years this week!) to a Class A GC with whom we are currently building our third personally built home in the hills of Parker. I have a long background in holistic health and coaching internationally and came to real estate after a long battle with the impacts of being repeatedly exposed to black mold here in the Denver metro area. I love all things natural, to learn about and practice homesteading, and I love to be helpful.
As a real estate agent, I serve buyers and sellers all along the Front Range - from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs and have experiences with luxury, land, and new construction. In the past few years, I've been called to serve a population who struggle with environmental sensitivities or exposure to toxins. Everyone deserves to live in a healthy home, and so I work together with local experts to be sure my clients find a house they can call home and help provide education and resources to help keep it that way.
Q2 - I love learning about how people began as a real estate agent because our stories are always so different. What was the inspiration or reason you decided to get into real estate?
Sure, I always feel like there is so much more to say to this story, but essentially, I was battling the residual effects of toxic mold exposure. I had been coaching clients and students full time, juggling my son's busy schedule as an athlete and homeschool student, and navigating my own health crisis - it all became too much for me to personally heal. I realized that I needed to shift into something different in my career to have greater flexibility and control over my schedule and to focus more on my own health and happiness so that I could heal from this debilitating sickness. We had been talking about building a home to sell and after many discussions decided that learning real estate really didn't have a lot of risk when compared to continuing the path I was on. I'm so glad I made the change, as much as I often miss coaching, my health has improved drastically, and I continue to heal and now I get to turn my own horrible experiences into something good that helps others who are navigating similar challenges.
Q3 - What services do you offer? And why did you choose to offer those particular services?
Since I came to real estate, helping people navigate and overcome obstacles to reach their goals has always been my vision and my gift - I believe that every process, no matter who you are or your level of experience, can be challenging, and getting to walk alongside people while they take this journey - no matter the destination - has been so fulfilling. Because of this, I help both buyers and sellers - I've worked a lot in luxury-level listings, and have experience with land, condos, townhomes, and median price point homes. I love to learn about real estate and am continuously expanding as an individual and agent.
In the last few years, I've been repeatedly called upon to help people with environmental sensitivities due to exposure to toxic mold. My personal experiences with toxic mold allow me to offer an empathetic stance, and an experienced approach to home-buying with this in mind, and successful strategies to help my buyers win in competitive markets while navigating this difficult health situation.
Q4 - Can you recall a challenging client or situation that you were able to fix or overcome? How did you fix it?
The most difficult situations often involve environmentally sensitive clients. There's not a lot of compassion or empathy displayed for buyers who are seeking safe homes.
A few years ago, I had a beautiful couple who were desperately seeking a safe home in the million dollar price point.
Showing after showing, house after house, we looked for the right home for them. We were met with air fresheners after we requested them to be pulled, mold after expressing the need to view homes with no water damage, and agents who were not receptive at all to the dynamics my clients were dealing with. It was highly frustrating and very difficult to navigate. After about 6 months, we found a home that passed all of the intense inspections and with a lot of patience, negotiations, and resolve, made it to closing.
Today, my clients absolutely love where they live and I could not be happier for them as they continue their own path to healing.
Q5 - What have you learned about yourself and your business over the years? How has your business changed to adapt to changing buyer and seller needs?
Coming to real estate, I had an inkling that my coaching and communication skills would be helpful, but I didn't realize how helpful. One of the biggest complaints in this industry is lack of communication - people don't like to feel like a transaction or a number and so as I've settled into this industry, I have recalled and implemented a lot more of the skills I learned in my past career. My goals are rooted in how I serve, how I connect, and the experience my clients have rather than in the numbers I want to reach and this changes how they feel and up-levels the experience they have.
Communication is always first, organizing, time management, and systems help our processes to flow smoothly, with accuracy, and with my client's greatest good at the helm.
Q6 - Real estate is not easy. If you could go back in time what advice would you give yourself?
The biggest thing I'd ask myself to keep in mind is that I already have everything I need, just keep showing up. For me, it's only as hard as I think it is.
Q7- We've all had amazing clients or stories to share that make being an agent all worth it. Can you share a story about a teammate, vendor or client that really impacted you and touched your heart?
They all are personal journeys people take on, they are all stressful and they are all pivoting as quickly as they can and I do everything I can to show up with a platter of options that help make things easier.
I have had a few clients who take life by the reigns, a few in the past couple of years when C-19 pushed us all to look at life through a different lens. I am always inspired by clients who work together with their spouse to set a vision for the future and they sell their home and often anything else that they can to go chase that. In the past few years, I've helped people sell and move on to Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, the Carolinas and even Alaska - OFF GRID! How exciting to get to be a part of that journey, to hear their plans, to provide resources and ideas, and help them to get the most from the house they've been that launches them onto the next path.
Q8 - If a potential client were reading this article, what would you tell them about you, your team or your business that would convince them to choose you?
As your agent, I am deeply committed to providing a value-driven full-service experience for my clients - whether you are looking for a healthier, safer home, selling the home you are in, or buying your next home or investment. You can trust that your priorities are also mine, that I will act in integrity and be present and supportive for you throughout your entire home buying or selling process.
Q9 - Fun fact about yourself that people may not know.
I was in the holistic health industry for over 10 years and hold many certificates and diplomas in various natural health and holistic studies. I became a student mentor for the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2011 and actively coached within their international platform for 9 years. It was the greatest and most impactful evolutionary experience of my life to date and plays a key role in why and how I do real estate.
Q10 - Where do you see your business going in the next 5 to 10 years?
Right now, I am clarifying this. Since wellness in real estate has shown up on my path, I've been working carefully and closely to put these pieces into place. In ten years, I will be the go-to Colorado agent with the passion, skills, and resources to help people seeking to improve their home-life experience - life in healthy homes that are solid investments. I intend to work with homeowners and builders who have an interest in regenerative practices and building wealth in real estate. I know this will come together in bigger detail in the months that lie ahead as I build a community around me of professionals with similar mindsets.
We enjoyed learning so much about you and your business. How can people learn more or get in touch with you?
