Q1 - Hey! Thanks for taking the time to be here. Can you start by sharing a little bit about yourself and your business?
I'm Sandra, and I've been a Realtor in Scottsdale and Phoenix since 2003. Over the years, I've become not just a real estate professional, but a dedicated advocate for helping my clients find homes that perfectly align with their lifestyles. One of my passions lies in creating healthy and toxin-free living spaces, and I've earned my Green Designation to better serve clients who share this commitment.
Q2 - I love learning about how people began as a real estate agent because our stories are always so different. What was the inspiration or reason you decided to get into real estate?
A less-than-ideal experience during my first home-buying process fueled my desire to provide a better, more personalized service for others. Having spent my career in sales and marketing, my true passion was the meaningful relationships I formed with people. I saw Real Estate as the perfect fit. I also knew it was a challenging industry with a high failure rate, and that was something that appealed to me - proving I could succeed!
Q3 - What services do you offer? And why did you choose to offer those particular services?
Matching clients with properties that seamlessly fit their unique lifestyles is my specialty. I believe that people often underestimate the significance of finding a home and location that truly embraces a desired lifestyle. My approach is centered around understanding what my clients truly enjoy doing, whether it's activities like golf, hiking, or horseback riding, and gauging the importance of those daily aspects. By prioritizing these lifestyle elements, I aim to match my clients with locations and homes that not only match their basic needs but also enhance their overall quality of life.
Q4 - Can you recall a challenging client or situation that you were able to fix or overcome? How did you fix it?
Almost every transaction has some challenge to it. I have seen just about everything in my 20 years of being in the industry. From last-minute pipe leaks to mold to leaking roofs, there have been so many situations that sometimes come up unexpectedly! The key is to stay calm for your clients. Clients aren't accustomed to encountering many of the issues that can arise during a transaction. As their Realtor, it's crucial to guide them and help provide solutions.
Q5 - What have you learned about yourself and your business over the years? How has your business changed to adapt to changing buyer and seller needs?
Over the years, I've learned that adaptability has been so important! The dynamic nature of the real estate industry has taught me to be resilient and open to change. I have worked in just about every market - the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I also recognize the importance of staying attuned to changing trends and preferences. Embracing technology has been one change. There were no smartphones when I first started in Real Estate and now I can't imagine those days and how we did it!
Lastly, I have always been a fitness junkie. I've always been into staying fit and mentally healthy. The thing is, we spend so much time at home so it just makes sense to make our homes part of that healthy lifestyle as well. I'm all about making sure our homes are healthy and free of toxins, and we're living a lifestyle that's all about embracing our well-being too. I have recently over the years fostered that into my business. More buyers and sellers are looking for that as well, especially after the Covid lockdowns and staying home for so long.
Q6 - Real estate is not easy. If you could go back in time what advice would you give yourself?
It's far from easy, and I doubt it ever will be! Despite the glamorous portrayals on TV, the real estate industry is challenging, although fulfilling. In my early years, I struggled with knowing when to switch off. If I could advise my younger Realtor self, I'd emphasize that tough times are temporary, there are ebbs and flows, and it's crucial to set boundaries, and worry less.
Q7- We've all had amazing clients or stories to share that make being an agent all worth it. Can you share a story about a teammate, vendor or client that really impacted you and touched your heart?
It's hard to pinpoint just one favorite part because I've built incredible friendships with numerous clients that extend well beyond the transaction. It's these enduring relationships that make me love what I do! Over two decades, I've had the privilege of helping people in various life stages— from growing families to empty nesters and even helping their kids find homes. When there are moments of doubt about why am I doing this crazy line of work, and trust me, there have been times - it's these connections that remind me why I'm in this profession, making it all so worthwhile!
Q8 - If a potential client were reading this article, what would you tell them about you, your team or your business that would convince them to choose you?
I've been deeply immersed in the real estate scene in Scottsdale and Phoenix since 2003. With my Green Designation, I hold a strong belief in guiding clients to discover homes within a healthy, toxin-free environment. I am also a member of The Institute for Luxury Home Marketing and a Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist. My specializations align my clients with homes that perfectly suit their lifestyles. My brokerage, Engel & Völkers, helps me to offer first-class client service, luxury branding, and a reach that spans both global and domestic markets. And lastly, by choosing me as your Real Estate advisor, you're not just gaining professional expertise; you're gaining a friend whose connection lasts well beyond the completion of the transaction!
Q9 - Fun fact about yourself that people may not know.
When I'm not engaged in real estate, you'll find me spending time with my horse, Poly, and my family, hitting the gym, volunteering with rescue dogs, and indulging in true crime stories.
Q10 - Where do you see your business going in the next 5 to 10 years?
I see my business evolving to provide even more insights into creating healthy homes and making connections with vendors, such as inspectors, contractors, and designers, who share the same passion for well-being as I do.
We enjoyed learning so much about you and your business. How can people learn more or get in touch with you?
Yes, you can follow me on my social media platforms for healthy tips, and local information on the housing market here in Scottsdale. I also have a healthy home monthly newsletter that I would love to share with anyone interested.
